Privacy Statement

This app (the “App”) is a smartphone app that serves as a digital version of the Hobonichi Techo provided by Hobonichi Co., Ltd. (the “Company”).
This document that describes the handling of users’ personal information in connection with the App is called the Hobonichi Techo App Privacy Statement (hereinafter referred to as “this Privacy Statement”). The Company will also disclose what kind of personal information is collected, how it is used, security measures, etc. In order to use the App, users are required to consent to the handling of their information, including personal information. For the purposes of this Privacy Statement, “personal information” refers to information relating to a living individual that can identify a specific individual based on descriptions such as name, date of birth, or other details contained therein. This Privacy Statement applies to personal information, information related to users’ device usage history of the App or other apps, and device identification information.
In order to use the App, users are required to log in with a Hobonichi ID and register the information necessary for using the App. Therefore, with respect to the handling of personal information within the App, both the Hobonichi Privacy Policy and Privacy Statement (Privacy Policy) (collectively, the “Hobonichi Privacy Policy, etc.”) and this Privacy Statement shall apply. In the event of any inconsistency between the provisions of the Hobonichi Privacy Policy, etc. and this Privacy Statement, the provisions of this Privacy Statement shall prevail.

Personal information collected and purpose of use

The Company collects personal information from users within and/or through the App, in addition to information related to Hobonichi ID, primarily through the following methods and including the following information. For details on how to collect personal information and how to change settings, please refer to the Help page.

Method of obtaining personal information

  • Methods of obtaining personal information resulting from the users’ use of the App
    (e.g.) Memos and recording of photos and videos, etc.
  • Methods of obtaining personal information indirectly from third parties based on user settings (including linking with smartphone devices and apps)
    (e.g.) When linking with a calendar app

Items of personal information collected

  • User’s nickname and email address
  • Information related to user-posted content (all text, photos, videos, etc.)
  • Information related to the users’ smartphone devices (location information, smartphone device information (device type and device name), attribute information, healthcare-related information)
  • Information related to payment for paid services (purchase history)
  • Information related to app activity

Purpose of use of personal information

The Company will use the personal information it collects for the following purposes. Please refer to the specific examples for details.

  • Purpose of providing the App
    • Registering for use of the App, modifying registration information, and displaying user information
    • Displaying posted content
    • Displaying users’ activity records as content within the App based on location information and healthcare-related information
    • Posting comments on users’ content by characters in the App based on content and registration information
    • Notifying and contacting users
    • Identifying the device being used
    • Processing payments for paid services
    • Responding to inquiries from users
  • Purpose of delivering, displaying, and measuring the effectiveness of advertisements
  • Purpose of developing and improving the App or the services provided by the Company
    • Developing and improving the functions of the App and the content provided within it, as well as developing new functions and developing and improving the interface within the App, based on surveys and analysis of user usage trends
    • Investigating malfunctions and improving performance of the App
    • Responding to security issues and unauthorized use
    • Responding to violations of the terms of use, illegal acts, unauthorized access, etc.
    • Responding to cases where posted content violates the terms of use, or applicable laws and regulations, including reports from other users
    • Verifying facts, confirming and communicating with the relevant individual

Cookies

The Company anonymizes users’ app usage data and uses it to analyze access statistics in order to improve our operations. The Company does not identify users or analyze individual usage.
The Company uses Google Analytics with server logs. If you do not want to participate in access analysis with opting out of the use of Cookies, please change your settings accordingly:
- You can refuse to accept Cookies by changing your browser settings. However, please be aware that disabling Cookies may prevent some services on the App from functioning properly.

Sharing with Third Parties

The Company may provide personal information to third parties. The Company will always ask your permission to share the information with the third party before doing so. If the Company is unable to obtain permission to share the information with the third party, the Company will not share the information. However, please be aware that if the Company receives an order to share the information based on laws and regulations, the Company may need to provide this information even without your permission.

Outsourcing

The Company outsources certain operations, including the development of the App, to third-party contractors to the extent necessary to achieve the purposes of use. When outsourcing the handling of personal information to such contractors, the Company selects contractors that meet the criteria for selecting contractors established by the Company, supervises the contractors, and prohibits the use of personal information beyond the outsourced purpose.

Common Use of Personal Information

The Company does not share personal information with third parties for joint use.

Security

To ensure that users can use the services more securely, the Company uses SSL encryption on all personal information input forms, such as application screens, thereby enhancing the confidentiality of communications. For more information about security and SSL, please click here.
In order to prevent the leakage, loss, or damage of user information and otherwise to protect user information, the Company takes necessary and appropriate measures for the safety management of user information, including restricting access to personal information files, recording access logs, and implementing security measures to prevent unauthorized access from external sources. Disclosure, correction, and discontinuance of the utilization of personal information

The Company allows users to confirm, correct, and delete the personal information users have registered or provided to the App. Please check the following for confirmation of your registration information and payment status, as well as any changes thereto. Revision of the Privacy Statement

If there are any changes in laws and regulations or any new services introduced on the Company that change the way the Company handles users’ personal information or privacy information in the App, the Company will revise this Privacy Statement and publish it in the App or on the App’s website (https://techoapp.1101.com). If any significant revisions are made to this Privacy Statement, the Company will notify users by email and provide an opportunity to review the latest Privacy Statement when users access the new service.

Privacy Statement for Europe

If EU and Member State regulations on data protection, in particular, the General Data Protection Regulation No 2016/679 in the EU and the European Economic Area (the “EEA”) and The Data Protection Act 2018 in the United Kingdom (the “UK”) (the aforementioned regulation and the act are hereinafter collectively referred to as the “GDPR) apply to the processing of the data of users within the APP, as mentioned in preamble of this Privacy Statement, both the Hobonichi Privacy Policy for Europe and this Privacy Statement shall apply.
